Battle for the Beach II--How tough are you?
The U.S. Naval Special Warfare Recruiting Command is hosting another chance for teams of six to test themselves against SpecWar candidates in a grueling competition on the beach. The teams will have to collectively compile 1000 push ups, 1000 situps, 500 pull ups, low crawl relay and swim 1/2 mile using the combat side-stroke or breast stroke. Lowest total time required to complete the tasks will determine the winning team and bragging rights.

Last year, the Volusia County Beach Patrol and the Navy SpecWar candidates fought it out to the end, but the Navy prevailed in the final event. The event was such a success, it will be opened to include teams from college ROTC, high school ROTC, SWAT teams, Fire Departments or any other organizations who think they are fit enough to survive.

The 6 person teams can be male, female or mixed. All events must be performed according to strict Navy SpecWar guidelines, NO exceptions. These standards are used in the training of Navy SEAL's and Navy Special Boat Teams.

Teams wishing to participate are asked to donate $100.00 per team to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation/Fallen Heroes, benefiting the families of Navy Special Warfare personnel who have died serving their country. Each competitor will receive a specially designed t-shirt. Additional donations for the NSW Foundation will be greatly appreciated.

The event will start at 9am, and will to take place next to the International Speedway Beach Approach on the beach in Daytona Beach. The Naval Special Warfare Recruiters will be on site all day following the event to answer questions  for those interested in their program.

Interested teams must send an e-mail to "tigersharkevents@cfl.rr.com" or just click on the link at the bottom of this page, and provide details of team name, team roster and shirt sizes. A liability waiver must be signed by each participant at the event site before participating.

ADDITIONAL RACES ARE IN THE PLANNING STAGES AND WILL BE
            ANNOUNCED AS THEY ARE FINALIZED.
